My hubsand has been a member of the Rotary since 2001. We both met when we were still members of the Rotaract = Rotary in Action (for youngster age 18 to 30).
The Rotary offers the possibility through the Rotary foundation to empower social projects. This empowerement comes through a lever effect of the initial funding which is brought into the target project.
As my husband and son were traveling back home from our common trip to Japan where I was suddenly and violently ripped out of my happy life, my husband thought what the best way would be to remember me. Hence he came up with the idea to support the organisation that had helped me survive my early years in life: the Institute of the Sisters of Nazareth and the House of Refuge, Paduapuram, Kerala, India.
What better way to have an impact on the lives of numerous children in a similar situation I had experienced in India than to raise some initial funds that were generously offered by family and friends and to have them multiplied through an international cooperation of several Rotary Clubs.
So the Rotary Clubs of Diest of District 1630, of Bruxelles Ouest of District 2170, of Bruxelles Est of District 2170 and of Angamaly of District 3201 decided to join efforts and start a global grant.
This truely reflects the spirit of international cooperation between people and clearly confirms the global message of Rotary.
